If you asked me what I thought health meant and how to achieve it. This is what I would tell you:
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. I believe in it so much that I truly believe you can not succeed without a daily habit of eating a clean breakfast higher in protein within an hour of waking up. The longer you wait, the more you put yourself at risk of failing. I don't want any excuses. Get in the habit. Eggs or no eggs. I'll accept a shake every now an then (once a week) but mixed with water or green tea only (not milk).
Next, you need moderate amounts of protein for the rest of your meals. Nothing too big but pretty good size. You also need to balance your protein with a SHIT TON of veggies. I'm not kidding. Acidic meats need alkaline vegetables. You also need lots of water or organic green tea. If you drink coffee (totally fine), for every cup you drink, also drink 8oz of water.
Fats? You need them or you won't lose weight. You won't feel better. You won't sleep better. You definitely won't perform better. This I promise. Most of it should come from animal fat. Grass-fed animals only. If they're not grass-fed or free range, you have to remove the fat due to the toxins but in doing so, you deprive yourself of the fats you need to be super healthy. Macadamias, coconut products, avocados, etc should be treated as supplements. Supplements taken only when you aren't getting in enough animal fat. Which pretty much means, if there isn't enough animal fat in the meal, replace it. Fruit should be limited to the morning only if any at all. Humans don't need fruit. If we don't need it, we probably overeat it, right? Stick to berries, grapefruit, and occasionally, exotic fruit.
Take supplements like VitD, Magnesium, VitC, Fish Oil, etc. in the evening before bed. Get enough sleep. Pick heavy shit up. Sprint every now and then. Throw heavy stuff. Do 3 rounds of 10-15 air squats, push ups, and some type of upper-body row or pull every morning when you wake up and before and after every cheat meal to get processes going in the body that will help with insulin sensitivity and blood-glucose uptake into the muscles instead of being stored.
Drink a GT's Kombucha (the new version is less vinegary) tea everyday or some type of probiotic. There are millions, if not billions, of bacteria in your gut and your success depends on whether those bacteria are the right kind. As disgusting as this sounds, you can tell a lot about your health from your bowel movements. They should be regular and solid. More on this later.
Don't sweat the small stuff. Most bad stress (working out is good stress) can be avoided by thinking logically and focusing on parts instead the whole. For example, if you are stressing about a large project that needs to get done (home, work, etc), break it up into tasks. Write the tasks down. Tasks can be completed in minutes or hours. As you complete them, cross them off. Crossing them off is actually a huge stress reliever. It let's you know things are getting done. Don't tackle anything overwhelming, head on. Instead, attack it in parts until its done.
These are just a few of my beliefs to true health. I have lots of other thoughts about important aspects of health and fitness but this is the gist of it. It doesn't take much to live like this. It even actually sounds quite enjoyable. One day at a time. You won't follow 100 percent, 100 percent of the time but trying to is 100 percent worth it.

Hi Ricky,
Great post! Thanks for all that info!
One question though:
Take supplements like VitD, Magnesium, VitC, Fish Oil, etc. in the evening before bed.
Why in the evening ? What differs between taking supplements in the morning vs. at night ?
Thanks!

I feel that there is better absorption when taken in the evening due the ensuing fast you are about to sleep through.
