Here is a poster of the different cuts of beef that I told some of you about. The cuts that have an asterisk by it determine that it is considered lean. Lean in this case is 10 grams of fat or less. (click on the pic to enlarge)

A couple of things I found for you guys while roaming the world wide web. The information super highway if you will.

LIVE PRIMAL recipe book. This sucker is stock full of recipes. I would stay away from any foods that have their names preceded by the word Paleo. For example, paleo pancakes. If it's grass fed beef, you don't say paleo beef, you just say beef. I am not saying don't eat this stuff, I am only saying stay away from it. Ha-ha. Meaning that the further you stay away from trying to recreate a grain based food that you love by changing the ingredients is usually not a good idea but better than eating the grain based food itself. There's that line again. If you want the best, most dramatic results, you have to make the best, most dramatic choices.

Other than that, this book has different ways to cook beef, fish, wild game, vegetables, fruit concoctions, and a lot of other stuff. Be smart though, just as I mentioned above and before: you need to stick to animal protein, better sources of fat, vegetables, and sparing use of fruit. This is where the gold is at. You start adding things into the mix and now you start getting yourself further and further away from your desired goals. All I am saying is use common sense and if you still can't decide for yourself, post the question to comments and I'll give an honest answer that states where along the line of quality it lies. There's a name for my line I keep talking about. The line of quality (results). I'll refer to it as just that from now on.

If you go with a recipe and make it up and it turns out to be a gift from the heavens, let us all know about it. Pass along the gift.

Another website I found that you may be interested in is called Fit Day. This website allows you to create a food log for free and this log tells you the nutritional breakdown of what you are eating. I wouldn't use this long term and as a matter of fact, I might just recommend using it only once, just to get an idea of your macro-nutrient breakdown. I filled it in and low and behold about 58% of my diet consisted of fat mostly coming from saturated and mono-unsaturated. About 32% coming from protein, and only 10% coming from carbohydrate. This is exactly where I want to be. Maybe a little more fat but not much more. It estimated for today that I would be taking in about 2600 calories. Good shit I'd say.

You can play around with this website and see if it's for you or not. The only thing I get afraid of is some of you becoming all neurotic about it and which would then just f*** everything up for you. I don't want this to be hard for you at all. I want you to enjoy it. I want you to learn how to really eat and what affects you negatively so that you can remove it and be healthy once and for all. If you are the type that get all caught up in numbers, I would urge you to stay away from Fit Day and just figure it out on your own. Let your body do the calculating. If you are eating the way I have recommended you eat, you will know when is enough. Don't try and keep eating if you are not hungry and if you are hungry, as long as you stick to the foods I want you to eat, have at it and keep going until your tummy's content (if it is not foods I recommend, then use extreme moderation).

In other words, if you don't reach the recommendation of 1 gram of protein per pound of body-weight, don't beat yourself up about it. It's the fact that you tried that matters most. I will have bet that you have gotten more in a day than you are normally used to and that, my friends, is the ticket.

As I find more and more websites and articles, I will post them here. As we get the challenge rolling, I will talk about more topics here. You must keep the questions coming as well. As I have said before, "If one person asks a question, lots more leave with answers."

So the past three months of logging my food on fitday is bad? Honestly, I feel neurotic about it pretty often. One feature I like is that you can see your daily vitamin intakes as well.

Jenni,

I just think that it can get a little overwhelming and it really isn't necessary. Check it out once or twice to see if your are moving in the right direction, including vitamins and what not and move on.

If you are doing things right, you won't need it anymore. If you keep doing it, I would attribute it to the hypothetical father that a son/daughter can never please. You'll keep trying to but sometimes it feels hopeless. You will never find the right mix or right amounts and but you'll keep trying to no avail.

If you do find the right mix, then what's the use of logging there anymore? You've already found it. Just follow that or stay close to it.

Hope this helps.......

Danielle,

I would recommend you finding someone to run up there for you. I am going to try and get the tryouts to be completed by noon but it may be after.

The good thing is there are only 6 guys and 9 girls competing so we'll see.

There will be three workouts on Saturday and Three on Sunday.
